Presenting the John Rumbiak Human Rights Defender Award

On July 7th, 2011, Eben presented the John Rumbiak Human Rights Defender award to Congressman Eni Faleomavaega on behalf of the West Papua Advocacy Team.

“I am humbled by this award,” Faleomavaega said. “I do not feel worthy of it, and this is why I have donated the prize money to the Papuan Customary Council (Dewan Adat Papua) in honor of the men, women and children of West Papua who are the true heroes.”

John Rumbiak is a renowned champion of human rights who suffered a debilitating stroke in 2005.
